Members of the Leawood Rotary Club met to clean up a local park as we prepare for the FIFA World Cup! One volunteer found a $20 bill, so it's clear that "service above self" really does pay dividends.

Mrs. Nation's 3rd grade class at Mission Trail Elementary School received new, personalized dictionaries on behalf of the Leawood Rotary Club from members Sonya Evans, Rod Pemberton, and Kirk Nelsen. Kirk had the pleasure of presenting the first dictionary to his granddaughter, Julia. Principal Bond was excited to participate as well.

Leawood Rotarians were able to sneak in a photo while volunteering at Flourish Furniture Bank. Flourish provides furniture and household goods to individuals and families in need. It is truly an amazing organization. While volunteering, eight families were assisted with complete home furnishings from furniture to dishes and lamps, etc.

Several Leawood Rotarians gathered to ease the burden of costly diapers for area families by volunteering with HappyBottoms.

We had a great turnout at The Outreach Program, where the Leawood Rotary was able to help pack over 10,000 meals. The 50 boxes will help benefit people in need due to circumstance such as government shut-downs that affect school nutrition programs.

The Rotary Club of Leawood presented a check for $5,000 to Heart to Heart International, an amazing organization working to provide quality healthcare access to everyone.

Twenty Rotary go-kits assembled at the 2025 Rotary Clubs of Eastern Kansas - District 5710 District Conference were delivered to representatives of Project ReHope, who were extremely appreciative to receive these much-needed items. Rotarians also learned about the plans and initiatives this organization is working on as FIFA 2026 prepares to arrive in Kansas City.

The Leawood Rotary Club presented a $1,500 donation to the Johnson County Food Pantry, which will go directly to local community members in need.

We are proud to have donated 107 winter coats to the Johnson County Christmas Bureau. These coats will go to neighbors in need, and the Leawood Rotary Club is proud to be a longtime partner with this incredible organization.

Several members spent a day in service to clean up one of our local gems - Gezer Park. Visitors can see several Rotarians mentioned on plaques for their contributions to this park. The weather was fantastic, and the companionship matched.

At Project C.U.R.E., Gary Bussing, Stu Sharp, and Paul Rueschoff helped prep more than 80 beds donated by Menorah Hospital for overseas delivery.

Past President Steve Black and new President Rod Pemberton presented Nina Kimbrough, Executive Director of the Johnson County Christmas Bureau, with $5000 to help local families. JCCB has been serving neighbors in need since 1960.

Rotary Members packed diapers for Happy Bottoms, which distributes diapers to families needing help to make ends meet. Last year, Happy Bottoms distributed almost 6 million diapers in the KC Metro area.

Leawood Rotary members volunteered at Project C.U.R.E. Members sorted medical equipment and supplies that were destined for Malawi in East Africa.

Leawood Rotarians worked to make Leawood more beautiful by cleaning up Tomahawk Trail. Trail cleanup is a recurring event and is made more enjoyable with good company, pastries, and coffee.
Community Service Chair Chuck Sipple and President Elect Rod Pemberton visited the Rotary Youth Camp along Lake Jacomo in May and donated $1300 in support of young campers, many of whom live with physical, mental or emotional challenges.
Leawood Rotary Club was delighted to present Project C.U.R.E. with a check for $6,000.
