WHAT is ROTARY?
- Rotary is the world’s first and foremost service club founded in Chicago in 1905.
- The Rotary Club of Leawood was established in 1995 and currently has 50 members.. There are over 1.2 million Rotarians world wide
WHAT is the OBJECT of Rotary?
- The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to his/her personal, business and community life.
WHO are Rotarians?
- Business and professional men and women who are community leaders with a desire commit themselves to community service.
HOW to become a TRADITIONAL MEMBER?
- Membership in Rotary is by invitation only.
- Invitation to membership in Rotary is deemed a privilege, bestowed with honor on those who take seriously the responsibility of service above self.
WHAT is EXPECTED?
- All members are expected to attend as many regular meetings (Thursday mornings) and/or social events as they can
- All members are expected to serve on one of the standing Committees.
- All members are expected to participate in the annual fund raiser Leawood Run (Labor Day).
- All members are expected to assume a leadership role in the Club.
WHAT is the COST to be a TRADITIONAL MEMBER?
- $250 Quarterly Dues:
Dues include:
-Breakfast and meeting facility expenses
-Minimal operational expenses to manage the club business
-Rotary International Annual Dues
-Rotarian Magazine
-RI Insurance and Counsel/Legislation
-District Dues
- $25 Quarterly contribution for the Anniversary Celebration
- $25 Quarterly Paul Harris Sustainer
(Optional, however it is a goal of the club to have everyone be a Paul Harris Fellow over time which is a commitment of $1000.)
- $25 Quarterly A Child’s Tomorrow (ACT) sustainer
(Optional, contribution to the Leawood Rotary Club’s Charitable Foundation)
What Goes on at the MEETINGS?
- Meeting start at 7:30am Thursdays at the Hallbrook Country Club, Leawood, Ks
- Breakfast is served buffet style.
- Business meeting starts at 7:55am.
- Guest speaker begins at 8:00am
- The program and meeting ends promptly at 8:30am.
WHAT are the AVENUES of Service?
- Club Service
- Vocational Service
- Community Service
- International Service
- Youth Service
- Every member is expected to participate in at least three activities or programs the club is engaged in.
- The Rotary Club of Leawood is a “hands-on-club”, not a fund-raising club; our activities reflect this emphasis.
WHAT is Required of NEW TRADITIONAL MEMBERS?
- Complete the New Member Mentor Program.
- Act as a greeter at four meetings a year.
- Join one of the club’s service committees.
WHAT is the ROTARY FOUNDATION?
- The Rotary Foundation provides for international scholarships, cultural exchanges, and humanitarian projects, large and small, that improve the quality of life for millions of people around the world.
WHAT are the BENEFITS of Rotary?
